What is "centre-right" mean?

I saw this term in some political sentences:
- François Hollande, the Socialist candidate, won France's presidential election, beating Nicolas Sarkozy, the centre-right incumbent.
- ...particularly Silvio Berlusconi’s centre-right People of Freedom.

Is that means "at present" or "currently in charge" ??

Thanks in advance !
