Dad: What if he gets upset that you looked him up? Or embarrassed about what you read on his blog? You don't know what his reaction might be.

Daughter: Still ... the worst thing that could happen is that he would stop e-mailing me.

For a start, which of the following conveys the same idea as looked him up?

checked him up/checked him/checked up on him/investigated him

Second, could I replace Still in the above context with Though? Thanks.
