what i dunt like about learning E~

Back in China kids start to learn E since kindergarden... I am not so sure about nowdays, but it was 1992 when I was one of them.

omg~! What an impressive amazingly brilliant idea to teach 2/3/4 years old kiddo learning second language?! we didn't even get to know our own native language yet...

So there time brought us to elementry/middle/high school, and later on, the only choice of language class is English! Why couldn't we have the choice of learning other kinds? We are forced to learn only E, and there were not that much fun learning this language I gotta be honest, and I personally believe there were not that much fun when teaching it. To whoever is teaching English in elementry/middle/high S, if you are thinking what i am thinking, I totally sympathize with u~

What is the purpose of learning it? Because we know the most popular language on eartrh is English? Because we want to get to a better college, a better job, a better life afterwards? I've skimmed this forum not really thorouly but i got the general idea. It is divided into sections like this one and some other to help visitors focus on what our particular difficulty is and find the solutions in a convinient way. And here this section is, Audio: speech and pronunciation. My question is, think back of what you'd learned in school. Grammers? Vocabs?

When you are learning a foreign language, what you should do besides building up the basic foundation (which is vocabs and grammers), don't you think that you should also learn how to apply it? How to use it when you need to? have you ever imagined what kind of embrassing situation you may have to deal with in the future only because of culturewise confusion? Unfortunately, what we learned were the tricks of getting a straight A test score, at least this was my very own personal experiences and my friends'. And the questions i asked above were indeed some unhappy memories from my life.

With all due respects and no offense please, shall I generalize that kids nowdays are learning because of learning, not because what we have that strong eagerness to seek for knowledge? (particularly in China)

Some additional notes: This is my second year in US, communicate in English is no longer a main problem for me. However, I still do have lack of interests in learning it. May be the whole thing above was just some excuses i was trying to find for myself, but i know that was one of the main reasons of why i feel sooooooooo slacking off and unwill when taking English course.

  • But I want to try to have the willingness of taking this more seriously, just for survival.
