What has he done or What had he done.

Which one is the correct one? Or they both are correct just different meaning?

Both are fine. Has done is present prefect (he did it sometime before now); had done is past perfect (he did it sometime before another point in the past).

Sorry, Yankee-- here's what I think must have happened:

I answered the Anon version. I then found the member version, which had no children, and deleted it as a duplicate-- but just as you were posting your answer to it. That millisecond made all the difference. Was your answer a good one?

I think it's best for you to distract (and abstract) from the original question and read about a more general thing — English Tesnses. There's a lot of information on the internet plus you can consult a grammar book, an on-line or printed version. After that your problem will be solved or you'll be able to ask more specific (hence easier to answer) questions.

The context will in most cases leave you no choice: either one will be correct, or the other.
