I can't understand what has got into him. He usually don't speak such silly things.

Is this sentence correct?

I can't understand what has got into him. Ok from a British English standpoint. The "has got" grates on Americans.

Americans would use

I can't understand what has gotten into him.

He usually doesn't speak such silly things.
