What happened to American feminist movement?

00As many of you have noticed, the women's movement in America is in standstill. I am not implying that it isn't making progress still but the momentum has certainly for whatever the reason. In the sixties, Americans had great feminists like Gloria Steinem, whom (who??) I believe is still living heathily. They carried the movement with fervor and seemed to have garnered the necessary public support effectively for their cause. They saw that their rights are not guranteed at the same level as men and they tried very hard to achieve the level that they perceive they should be at and in doing so, they saw some great legistration being passed and made into laws.02br

00Now, in the early twenty-first century, the momentum has slowed visibly, if not has stopped completely. I feel that it is due to the fact the women in America came to realization that this movement is no longer serving them well. They seem to feel that they have achieved the level they are comfortable with and any effort to further their causes would be to their detriment. One catalyst that served to make this resolution more solid came when they saw their American men seeking to marry women from other countries like ones they would consider 'third-world countries' for the reason that the men found their American women to be too bossy and controllling. Gaining equal rights are good in and of itself but when they saw their men going other places and marrying women from other countries, the women seemed to be afraid of what might happen if they push their agendas too hard. They became afraid of the possibility that some would be left stranded in the land with no spouses and a slim yet real possibility that she being one to that is too painful to fathom and I feel it certainly played a big part in making the movemnt to slow down to come to a standstill. 0-
