What does 'want' mean in the below example?

hello,
mini-story:
WOMAN HESITATES TO REVEAL SECRET LOVE FOR COLLEAGUE
DEAR ABBY:
I am a single woman in my early 30s who has never been married. I recently fell in love with a wonderful man with whom I spend a great deal of time. He is unaware of the intensity of my feelings,
and I'm afraid of telling him out of fear of rejection....

what did alice want?
alice wanted her colleague.
when did alice want him?
well,immediately.
did she want fred immediately,now?

1- what does 'want' mean on all sentence and question?
if it means 'she wanted to have sex with him' but she fell in love with him and not wanted only sex !
2-why use 'now' at the end of (*) question,but the question was for past simple and 'now' is for present time?

This section is poorly formed. Who are Fred and Alice and how are they related to Abby?
#1 - I suggest that 'want' means 'want as a husband'.
#2 - There is no explanation for the use of 'now' there.

and Fred was someone who Alice wanted him
