could you be so kind and tell what "toast" mean in this excerpt? I suppose, the meaning is " a treat", something very delicious, but am I right?
Annie made melt-in-the-mouth cranachan from wild
raspberries and fresh cream, and in winter her clootie dumpling,
rich and heavy with dried fruit and spices, was the toast of Hogmanay. Cranachan, clootie, black bun… all those remembered
tastes and smells… My senses go on high alert.
