What does "to be in evidence" mean?

Hi, I encounter this frase and I'm not sure about its meaning: "everywhere the belief in science is in evidence".

So does this mean that everywere the belief in science is obvious or does it mean that it has been proved?

Thanks!

Your guess is a bit too strong. Evidence is just a body of observations that support or refute a claim. For example, if a city has a lot of science museums, supports a great science curriculum in the public school system, encourages businesses which do scientific research, and promotes free public lectures on scientific subjects, then there is a lot of evidence that the people of that city believe in science.

  • Everywhere (in the city) the belief in science is in evidence.
