What does this word really mean?

Discombobulate.
I've always known this word to mean 'to throw into a state of extreme confusion', but recently a friend of mine informed me that this word has some 'crass' implications. I searched my dictionaries and did not find anything crass, and now we have a raging debate going between us.
Can someone help us resolve this? Does the word have 'crass' or pejorative implications (beyond its inherent negative meaning)? If so, what are they?
Thanks in advance,
-UVR.

Your definition is the same meaning I've seen. Nothing crass or offensive about the word.

Maybe among his crass friends it does (not you, of course) but otherswise it doesn't and it only means what you said.
