What does this sentence mean?

What does this sentence mean? Can anyone one explain it in a simpler way? And tell me under what kind of circumstances I can use it?

'set to' can mean fight, but not in this context. Here it means 'be deteminedto/bound to/just about to'

Yes, 'set to'  can have that meaning, but not here.

Here, the meaning is 'Mary is ready to . . '.

eg Tom is set to eat dinner'.

Often, you'll find an emphatic 'all', eg Tom is all set to eat dinner.
