What does this "angle" mean?

0 01blockquote
00Like these women, Arline doesn't take no for an answer. Years ago, she persuaded a judge to suspend a fine for parking across the sidewalk atop her steep driveway after a snowstorm. "It was too slippery to 11b10park on an angle12b10," she said.12blockquote
10Hi there, thanks for always helping me! I'm full of gratefulness!02br
00Could you tell me what "angle" here means? I consulted dictionaries, but I couldn't find any definitons that explain it.0-

1i00At an angle02i00 just means 01i00diagonally02i00. I suppose that normally she parks at an angle (diagonally) in her driveway in order to avoid impeding the public sidewalk.0-

0Oh, I see! My dictionaries (Kenkyusha's E-J Dictionary for the General Reader and the Genius) don't have "on an angle" but "at an angle."02br

0 I think the sentence means that Arline couldn't park on the driveway because the incline (angle) of the driveway was too steep. Her steep driveway was so slippery after the snowstorm that a car could not possibly remain parked on it because it would slide downhill. So she parked where it was flat: across the sidewalk.02br

0 The luckiest part of my neighbor's story was that nobody got hurt. She managed to scramble out of the way of her sliding car in time and her two kids, who were still in the car (!), were also not injured.0-

0This is interesting; Mister Mic was seeing it horizontally, Yankee vertically!0-

00My neighbor's two kids were 2 and 8 at the time, and you're right: The 8-year-old told anybody within earshot about his adventure (with great and dramatic animation) for weeks and weeks afterward -- much to his mother's dismay. 05000 It happened last year when I was still living in Germany. 00Yes, I live in Groton! Good guess! But no, I'm not part of the military. A number of people in my family work for Pfizer. Pfizer's Central Research facility is located in Groton.0-
