What does this mean? mechanical

''Points mentioned above are easily explained in a mechanical way.''
The text isn't about something that has to do with something mechanical. It's a text about language but the statement kinda sounds odd due to adverbial phrase it contains. What does 'in a mechanical way' mean? please enlighten me thank you very much
