what does this mean ?

Hi

I run across some sentence but I'm not sure exactly what it want to say.

"The more time we spend out here, the harder it is to tell where one day ends and the next one begins"

I understood this sentence as below.
We do not see any future. Am I right to understand correctly?

Without more context, this sounds like the people are out in the wilderness somewhere, with no calendar or clock, so it is hard to keep track of time.

Perhaps they are at a pole, where the daylight can be 24 hours long at the solstice?
