What does this mean?

What does it mean when it says "you can claim your grub stake there".

It's tennis instructions:

The continental grip suits the one-handed backhand best. If the continental grip feels too extreme, back off toward the eastern grip until you feel more comfortable. But remember, keep moving toward the continental as you get familiar with the stroke, unless you begin hitting really effective backhands along the way. If you do, you can claim your grub stake there.

Thanks so much.

Grub stake is a old term used when prospectors went out looking for gold. Someone would supply them with food and equipment (the grub stake) with the promise that they would get a share of the prospector's findings. ) Here I interpret it to mean that you invest something relatively small for a big reward in the future.
