What does this mean?

This is from The Old Batchelor by William Congreve.
I wanted to know what the word But means here.
I transcribe it precisely:
Man,was by nature womans cully made:
We,never are but by our selves betray'd.
I cannot perceive the first sentence too .
Would be grateful to have your answer.

I suppose this sentence means that we always are being
betrayed by nobody except ourselves.

Hi Jim,

This forum plays tricks on me. When I had been answering, I didn't realyze
that the question has already been answered at least a couple of times
