Hi, Welcome to the Forum. Is this saying anything to anyone...from a marketing standpoint?
"Performance is a standard."
No, not really. Marketing statements like this often make no real sense. Nevertheless, they often seem to be successful in making an impression on the audience (customers) they are directed to.
So you think it works? I'm the copywriter, and I did not write this. I don't like this. I've tried to explain why it makes no sense and I'm being told that I don't get it.

I believe their explanation is that in the industry, to "perform" alone, is a selling point. Essentially, the intent of all of the products is to weather-proof...so I see what they are thinking. "Our products perform" makes sense, barely, but not to sell (to me). I completely agree with you and think this tagline makes NO sense. I like your example - would "edibility is a standard" makes sense for food? Maybe "Upright and ambulatory is a standard" would work for a job placement company?

Today we had another meeting and this what brought up. An outside ad guy had done some art and he had put "Make Performance Standard" which caused questions to rise because he didn't put "Make Performance A Standard"
So, we voted on it. The outside ad guy voted against the "A"...everyone
