What does this mean...?

when someone say that a girl is sassy, what does it mean? tnx

Top answer

I use sassy to mean high-spirited and maybe a bit rebellious. The racehorse had a sassy way of tossing her head in the starting gate. I do not use the negative sense of this word because it is a way of suppressing childlike inquisitiveness.

No, not always. Sassy can also be used to mean what it says in the bold text below.

sassy (sàs´ê) adjective

3. Stylish; chic: a sassy little hat.

HIghly spirited, and full of yes, yes. However, in English, there is that rude connotation. Sassy can mean cool. The words "sassy bucket" may mean a cool bucket, but it would have to be a pretty cool little bucket.

living in the midwestern united states, sassy is a less common used word in normal language. However it will be used precisely because of that. a bit of spice to a conversion.

it is used mainly to describe a female or perhaps a child. i would never use it to describe a man (unless I wanted to provoke a fight or perhaps indicated homosexuality).

example usage:
