What does the term "rainbows were shooting out of your ass" means ?

I hear in some movies the term "rainbows were shooting out of your ass". It seems to mean "everything is fine" or something like that. But I'm not sure about that.

Could you explain me the exact meaning of that term.

Thank you very much.

Hi, I have no idea what this means. I've never heard it. But it's not something I'd recommend saying in a situation where you want to seem polite.

My gut reaction is that it might mean being overly optomistic about something or making statements that don't have much credibility.

Yes it means everything is good or beautiful but, most often it is used when things are not ok and there is the reason it is called shooting a rainbow out your ***. grin Means like talking out your **** to make people see things better than they are.
A phrase used by hilary leigh at times on her sites then later she says it was just as it seemed she was shooting a rainbow out her ***. Sa

Ok all you people, I don't think that's what it means. I saw the movie in its original context and it was used to describe someone that was extremely happy and joyful.
I do think, however, that the "everything's fine" interpretation could work, but I think it is used to describe someone who's really happy.

I use this phrase all the time, thought I was the only one! I use it as meaning I am very happy or a person is acting way happier than seems appropriate.

Well, it’s December 23, 2018 and I’ve just heard the expression on the 60 Minutes segment on reintroduction and protection of wolves in Yellowstone.

I read something similar in a novel and it meant that the woman had such great love and admiration for the man that she thought he was so wonderful that every part of him was great and better than anyone else.

I am speaking from way in the future of this post but "rainbows shooting out of my ***" is a phrase I've used for well over a decade. I just ran across this post because my phone (OK Google) asked how I was doing, so as a response I said "if I were any better there Googs, I'd be shooting rainbows out of my ***..." this is pretty much the only context I've ever used it in, and I thought I made
