What does the "some" mean in this context?

I was watching the anime, Gravity Falls, and in that a little boy, Dipper, was in the woods and picked a book about some mysterious things happened in there. And then, his twin sister showed up and said "Hello! What are you reading? Some nerd thing?" And my question is:

I dont think this "some" means something about the amount or something like that, because there is no "-s" after the "thing". If not, What do native speakers of English mean by this word? Are there any other words that have almost similar meaning?

Thank you.
