What does "take by" mean?

Hi, could you help me understand this sentence:
"Our route to the museum will take us by some of the city's most beautiful historic buildings, and we'll stop on the way so that you can take photographs."
I'm wondering the meaning of "to take somebody by."
Could you tell me, please?
