What does 'stoned' means?

This is the British movie script.
A(man) , B(woman), C(woman) are close friends.

Stoned = in the state of being “high”

A long time ago (in the 60s) stoned also meant "drunk". This is from a live Frank Sinatra recording:
"Dean Martin's a drunk. I can attest to that. He's been stoned more often than the United States' embassies."
In those days it wasn't uncommon for people to throw stones at US embassies in countries where US policies weren't liked.

Stoned means either drunk or high to the point that you don't really know what you are doing or what is going on. Most people are stumbling around and have slurred speech or are passed out.

Like the other poster said, it means high, but most often pertains to being high on marijuana.
