What does "the sun peaks over the horizon" mean? It seems odd to me. Shouldn't it be "peeks" instead of "peaks"?[:^)]

Definitely 'peeks'. It's probably just that people who write 'peaks' are not familiar with the word 'peeks', or at least are not good at spelling.
I'm just happy that they didn't write 'piques'.
