What does "murder red" mean?

Here is the context:

One window, glowing a deep murder red, shone squarely through the leaves.

I don't get what does murder red means, could someone help me?

Hi Recluse

I'd say the author is trying to suggest that the shade of red is like the color of blood. (When someone is murdered, there is often a lot of blood visible.)
