What does "not the least of which" mean?

"These and many many more advantages not the least of which are based on lessons learned from ...".
Can anyone please explain it to me?

  • If you want the el-cheapo quickie, "not the least of which" is a fixed phrase meaning something like "one of the more important of them being".
  • So when I write, "There are many reasons why you shouldn't drive while drunk, not the least of which is that you might kill someone", "not the least of which" means "one of the more important of which," referring to "reasons".

It's not a bad idea to correct a mistake by over-emphasizing it, like you did with "litote," a non-word. Is there a rhetorical device for this kind of irony

[nq:1]Maybe it is because I am a mathematician, or maybe just because I am a pedant, but I usually take ... the original quote, the lessons learned could be the second least advantage with maybe only one other advantage below it.[/nq]
