What does mean dark green with a bluish wash?

I'm reading a science article about ducks and the following sentences are from the article.

"Crown and forehead dark green with a blackish wash, hindneck dark green with a bluish wash, back and rump blackish with a bluish wash..."

Does it mean hindneck is dark green and "some part of it" has a bluish wash or hindneck is dark green and "that dark green has a bluish wash"?

It is tricky for me.

Thank you for reading :-)

Hello :-)

Thank you for your comment.

Yes, it is about describing mallard's body.

I'm wondering about the meaning of 'with' in those sentences.

So, "hindneck dark green with a bluish wash" means hindneck is dark green and that dark green has a bluish wash(not just dark green but bluish dark green)? OR hindneck is dark green and some part of it has a bluish was

A "color wash" is an artistic technique. First, the artist paints the base color (eg. dark green), and then, on top of that color, paints a thin layer with a translucent paint of a different color (eg royal blue).
The original color shows beneath the wash, but in certain lights, the color of the wash can be seen.
The color of that patch is "base color with wash color." A similar technique
