What does "manichean" mean?

Hi,

Three years ago, I heard someone say "That's manichean!" in a derogative way.

I have looked (off and on) for three years now, and I still can't understand the meaning.

Any tips appreciated, thanks.

I can't know what that person meant by it without knowing what he thought was Manichaean. The word is well covered by the dictionaries. I guess a derogatory general meaning might be "simplistically dualistic".

The religion was considered a heresy by the Catholic Church. So "heretical" "deviant" or "outrageous" might be the intended meaning.

The usual meaning is related to black and white thinking, dualism.
