Q. What does "You're looking a little brittle" mean?

Is it mentioning your face or your mood?

I can't say that I know how a person can look brittle. It is not a common expression or anything. It is something a fictional character said, I imagine, so we can't ask what he meant—nervous and ready to cry, I guess.
