What does "jeopardy" mean?

-It's one thing to throw your life away,
but to put Ned in jeopardy is selfish.
-You told me to be like Ned and get a job.

After I saw the lines in the movie above.
i tried to find what "jeopardy" means in the dictionary like below.

- If someone or something is in jeopardy, they are in a dangerous situation where they might fail, be lost, or be destroyed.

I came to understand the meaning of jeopardy through it.
During googling the image about "jeopardy"
I look at a picture that I'm attaching by reply, I can't see why
the program of its quiz is named.

Here's one idea:

The other idea is that it is a catchy name. People in danger of losing the game.

Perhaps because, although the contestants can win money, they are always in danger of losing it.
ie they are in jeopardy.

TV shows are not always given names carefully and precisely.
