What does it mean to "cut (someone) low"?

I want to know what "cut (a person) low" means.

Does it mean, say something to the person very nasty??

It's not a standard or common expression.

If someone said to me 'Mary cut Tom low', I wouldn't really understand.

To give an example, there is a song by a Swedish band

and in that song they say "Don't cut me low".

Whay do you think that could mean?

Could it mean something like "Don't let me down"

or "Don't hurt me (in a certain way)" or possibly

"Don't patronize me"??
