What does it mean that something "bears something out"?

The context is as below:

"I've always heard that New Hampshire's one of the safest places to live in the America, but

the Statistical Abstract indeed bore this out."

I've checked all possible phrasal dictionaries within my leagues to find the meaning of it but to

I'd like to see what you are asking about inside the message box. Your message does not indicate what part of the quote you are talking about, so I have to go looking for the thread title and hope that that contains some critical information. I would rather be given all of the information within the message box. It saves time, it aids concentration.
