What does it mean that a court proceeding is UNCONTESTED

The statement goes as such :
"The proceeding was default and uncontested."

Honestly, I don't really udnerstand how could a PROCEEDING be "default" as well,
you either fall into default for the stipulations set by the verdict or fall into default with something that's a retraining matter.

And trust me, I've checked all dictionaries for this already.
