What does it mean?

Hello everyone!

I've just seen this sentence in Philip's profile and am wondering what it stands for.

At reise er at leve! Is it even English?

Thanks in advance.

Isn't 'reise' Norwegian/German for 'holiday/travel ? I lived in Norway for almost 2 years. Does it mean, 'At play and at work?

Thank you, SME. Yes, reise stands for travel in German. However I thought it might have been some of these outdated English words. Also, although I guessed it means At play and at work, I did not understand it! Thank you again for your clarification.

How many mistakes I have made? ( I think the italic ones are more likely to be wrong)

It's one of Hans Christian Andersen's quotes. It means "To travel is to live". He made many journeys through Europe. This is the complete sentence, "To move, to breathe, to fly, to float, To gain all while you give, To roam the roads of lands remote: To travel is to live."

So then it's not Norwegian or German. It's Danish.
