What does it do or what do it does?

Hi, I'm not native english speaker as you may notice, reading my question.

I'd like to ask how can I ask someone in the following situation:
I'm looking at something (a machine for example) and I want to know what it does(what's used for). Do I ask "what does it do?" or "what do it does?" ?

Thanks.

In your sentence "do" is both the helping verb and
