What does highfalutin here mean!

"To that end he seems critical of the characters who refuse to credit Tara's explanation, particularly a poor psychiatrist who is introduced only to be ridiculed for his highfalutin diagnosis of what he calls "confabulations." "

I know highfalutin means pretentious,pompous

but how is diagnosis can be highfalutin

My bad should have found the meaning of ridicule ..did know all other word except ridicule somehow I ignored it..

I sorta understand the sentence now (as a whole) but I still struggle to find the meaning of highfalutin in the sentence ...

Also in the last bit of the sentence does he call the highfalutin diagnosis, confabulation?
