What does 'chess club type' means?

He looked like the overly helpful, chees club type.

In the sentence, what does 'chees club type' means?

I think that it's too advisory.

Because In korea people are giving too much advice when other people are playing 'Jang-gi'

It's interupting the game. So I think it's same in chees.

Am I right?

Thanks in advance.

My guess is that it refers to the intellecutal type who happens to be helpful as well. By the way, I love your screen-name (if it's the "play" that I think it is).
