What does "check my math" mean here?

The lines is from Captain America III

- Barnes would've been eliminated in Romania if it wasn't for Rogers. There are dead people who would be alive now.Feel free to check my math. -

I don't understand what "check my math" here.
I know I can't take it literally here.
But I just don't know what it implies.
Does it mean "feel free to consider my remark about the gain and the loss."?
Would you please shed light on it? Thank you.

You can verify (test, check) the truth of my statements. You will find that they are true, as true as 2+2=4.

Thank you for your enlightenment. How about my interpretation? To what extent is it correct?

Thank you. Then how do you interpret it clearly?

If the writing is muddy (like your example), there's nothing to do but ask the writer to improve and write more clearly.
