what does burden here mean?

SUPPLIER shall perform repair or substitute article and burden according to directions of PURCHASER in case that the cause of above loss, destruction, theft and/or deterioration should return to SUPPLIER.



What does Burden here mean? Is it a verb or noun? If we understand it as responsibility, what does it mean in this sentence?

No idea. Again, the sentence is so badly written it's hard to make sense of it, although it appears to be an attempt to create a standard 'faulty goods' terms and conditions, but then it's peculiar to include loss or theft in that. ) A supplier isn't normally required to give you a replacement just because you lose something!

(and how do you return something that has been stolen?) A supplier isn't normally required to give you a replacement just because you lose something!

I am confused by these sentences. These sentences are from a contract. This contract was signed between a Japanese company and another company whose origin of nation is uncertain.

I find it difficult to understand this contract.

If this is a real contract, it seems to be a lawyers' delight - years of discussion of what was really intended, all charged a enormous rates.
