What does add up mean?

Hello,

I ran across some sentence as below,
"Alice
Did you learn anything from the experience?

Rob
I learned how to pull a decent pint.

Alice
Did you learn anything else?

Rob
Yes, I learned how to add up."

But I'm not sure, some sentences aren't a quite a bit understand

Q1. What does "I learned how to pull a decent pint." mean? What does he learned?

Q2. I can see that "add up", but why does he used 'add up' not 'adding' or 'addition' ?
Is add up more usual expression in england?
What kind of expreesion is there more usual?
