What does "abortively" mean in these sentences?

Abortively: Adv, In an abortive or untimely manner; immaturely; fruitlessly.~Wikitionary

1.) You mention in the piece that you spoke (“briefly,abortively”) about Bill.”
2.) Apparently on behest of Washington in July 2008 Zardari government abortively tried to put the powerful military-run spy agency, Inter Services”

I know that "abortive" means unsuccessful. But in adverb form, abortively has different meanings.I want to know what "meaning of abortive" in each of the sentences above.

I know but, abortively has different meanings... and I want to know how the different meanings are used in each of the sentence.
