Can someone please tell me what 'a man of universal culture' means exactly?
For example, when the United Nations say Albert Einstein was a man of universal culture, do they mean that he influenced the whole world culturally, or do they mean that he was a symbol of the world's common culture?
Thank you very much,
Sincerely yours,
John

Your guess is as good as mine. I imagine that it means the latter. He was a symbol of the world's common culture.
