What does a doctor do?

Hi everybody,

Could you tell me what the verb collocating with 'doctor' (/dentist/GP/etc.) is? This doctor belongs to a certain area (the desired verb should suggest it). Is there a verb to express it at all? For example:

1. He is the doctor making service in this district.
2. He is the doctor working in this district.
3. etc.

I really don't know the solution to this question (if any).

Thanks for your answer(s) in advance.
