Just a few hours ago it was a normal day I was smiling, laughing, only wanted to play Until over the intercom somebody spoke And all of their words nearly caused me to choke It couldn’t possibly be real, it is just a dream But it became reality when I heard the scream Teacher’s face became a ghostly white We hid in corners silenced by our fright I heard loud bangs followed by screams and shouts My friend clung to me and whispered, “Will we get out?” Teacher said to close our eyes, we’ll be just fine I decided to write a letter to pass time Just as I put the pencil down, a man came in Teacher screamed, “What you’re doing is a sin!” As he pointed the gun, someone yelled run BANG! The man had just killed a mother’s son I knew someday everybody dies But right where my body lies, Stands the sick, cold hearted crook Who took my life at Sandy Hook The man realized what he had done And took his life with the very same gun Police came and thought nothing could get better Until someone stumbled upon my letter “Mommy please don’t cry, I am okay, I will still be with you day by day. I’ll be in the laughter you hear at the park, I’ll be in the stars you see after dark. And don’t you worry, I will still learn Because Teacher is here, she’s caring but stern. I like it here; I think I will stay, And save you a spot ‘til you come up this way. I think that you would really like it here. Whenever you look into a mirror, You can see your wings that weren’t visible on Earth. But Jesus told us we’ve have them since birth So Mommy please don’t cry, I am okay, I will still be with you day by day. I’ll be in the laughter you hear at the park, I’ll be in the stars you see after dark. P.S. All year long I have been a good boy, And I sure would love a special toy. There are not many days ‘til Christmas, only eleven, So please tell Santa that I am up in Heaven.”
