what do you think of HONg KOnG and its people?

Hey guys,, I need your help...Since I'm doing a research of "what do westerners think of Hong Kong ?" as my first-term paper, I hope all you guys can help me. I really mean ALL, no matter you're american, englander, indian or irish (make a promise, discussion ONLY, no offence)Have you guys been to Hong Kong before? Do you think it's nice? Do you think mahjong is extremely popular in Hong Kong? What do you think of hong kong people? And tell me more....I need your opinion!!!! THANKS!!!!!

I have only been to Hong Kong twice,(1989 & 2004), each time only briefly on my way to other places.
I was most awe struck by the density of the population. So many people crammed into such a small space. Miles and miles of skyscrapers and the noise and light polution were a sharp contrast to what I am used to.
The practise of spitting in the street was something I found discusting when I was first there, but did not come accross it last year. Mind you, I was there for less than 24 hours last year.
The people on the whole seem very hastled and aggressive. A que is something to cut into, but most of the time pushing and shoving is the go.
I had fun and enjoyed my time there and hope to be able to have a longer stay in the future.

The HK government tried to clam down on these unhygienic habits, and they are successful to a certain extent.

HK people are practical to the point of being shortsighted. For example, students rush to major in whatever field that looks lucrative at the moment, forgetting that things may change by the time they graduate.

But boy, do HK people work hard. Sometimes too hard.

Not really, just some of the chinese people are spitting, but definitely not all of them. Generally speaking, i don't think many hong kong people are doing that since the fine have increased to $1500 already.

We seldom spit, but Mainlanders do.Perhaps you mistake us for them?
We hate people who don't queue up,and we seldom push others(even though it is in Disneyland,at noon).
We welcome you to come to HK, and hope you find us interesting.
