Letter Writing

What do You think about this cover letter??

I am twenty-two year postgraduate student .I graduated in “XXXXXXXXXXXX” in July 2005 from the XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. My major was computer networking and my diploma thesis was: XXXXXXXXX.

I have some previous work experience as I worked at summer vacations for 3 years, and this taught me the value of teamwork and commitment. I am also very familiar with a number of computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Windows, and Linux.

I am a conceptual thinker, a generator of creative ideas, and a self-starter. I am very keen to apply my theoretical skills in practical work, especially in my study major Computer networking. I am also very interesting in learning more about XXXXXXXX, because in the future I would like to overtake my father’s company.

Thank you very much for considering my application.

I presume that this is to be accompanied by your CV in application for a job? You need to supply a bit more detail as to the nature of your summer jobs. At 22, we can hardly categorize ourselves as conceptual thinkers , etc-- at least that sentence sounds somewhat pompous to me.

  • I would eliminate it in favour of some more practical indication of your training, skills and abilities.
  • It is also advisable to indicate how much the position that you are applying for appeals to you, and how well your qualifications match its requirements.
