What do we got going...

Hi,

I think I heard the following expression from a native speaker. Not sure if it is correct grammatically.

What do we got going on here today?

Thanks,

MG.

It is quite casual but also very natural, at least in AmE. I will not comment on its grammaticality, which I think is irrelevant.

It's not standard English. Standard English would be:

"What have we got going on here today?" (conversational)
"What do we have going on here today?" (from a purist point of view, probably better)

Right. To my BrE ear it sounds very debased. (No offence intended to AmE speakers!)

'Debased' sounds rather prescriptive, Mr Wordy. Perhaps it simply does not suit you.

If you notice, I said "to my ear".

However, I can assure you that many other BrE speakers would also find it wildly ungrammatical.
