What do two below lines mean ?
#1- I shoot birds by the hundreds.
#2- Eggs are sold by threes.

ljswave#1- I shoot birds by the hundreds. Strictly it should mean that every time you shoot birds, you shoot hundreds of them. (You would be a terrible killer of birds.) But it also can mean that over a long period of time you have shot hundreds of birds.
