What do they transfer?

"Come graduation, they do not go outside to a hostile world; they transfer."

What do they transfer? A hostile world? "Transfer" in the context means "change"?

Please help me to answer these questions.

Thank you.

Without context I may have to guess a bit. transfer is intransitive here. It means they transfer to another school and continue their education there.

Hi Cadzao,

Nice to see you here.

I think the text is about students who, having graduated from an educational institution, don't have to adapt to 'hostile' reality, which is different from their usual 'habitat' or way of life, but meet the reality in the form they have got used to being students. 'Transfer' rather than 'go out'.
