What do these sentences mean?

1.I'm never going to buy your book because you sound like a pompous windbag

2.All very high-minded and, in retrospect, more than a little pompous

3.Yet even the stellar artwork is not enough to hoist this book out of its pompous mire

4.The pompous king has cheeks like sides of mutton and narrow evil eyes.

I could understand the meaning of pompous but could not excerpt the meaning from the above sentences.

Thanks!!

The word itself is not simple, sutta. Maybe you should start using the MACMILLAN DICTIONARY.
