What do "a bit" and "rather" mean here, please

- This room is a bit too cramped for the three of us.

I've seen words like "rather", "slightly, etc. used with "too" in constructions like that. What meaning do these words add to the "too"?

Top answer

Laborious What meaning do these words add to the "too"? They weaken the meaning of "too". Too cramped means the three people are extremely uncomfortable in that room.
